Just because we love our blog-visiting friends, because Life is Good, because God is blessing us left and right, and because we know you love them……here’s another Giveaway!
The goods? This beautiful cedar birdhouse . . . . . .

Some starter seed is included.
Also included is 2 (peanut free) suet cakes!
Entering to win this birdhouse with feed is easy!
We’d love for you to tell us: What is the animal you were most surprised to discover around your bird feeders, eating the seed on the ground? Or, if you don’t have any feeders yet: Why would you love to win this one?
All comments will be entered into the random drawing. A winner will be drawn in a week, on Monday, August 17th, and will be announced here on the blog.
To answer the question ourselves, (although we are automatically disqualified, lol) for the sake of sharing, we would have to say wild turkeys. But we bet some of you have more interesting answers.
GOOD LUCK!!

The winner announcement for this Give-Away will be made right here in this section, in THIS post (so scroll down to it if you need to) by noon-1:00 p.m. of the same day.

Well now. That was fun. : )
We had a birdhouse but my children managed to knock it down from our deck and started putting “pet stones” in it. So I guess, no animals near our birdhouse, just children filling it with pet stones. I’d love to have another one though so I could actually enjoy the birds.
Gina — How sweet that your parents met where they did! My mother loved birds and had a great sanctuary in her yard, outside her window. {A}started being interested in birds first, right after my mother passed away. I think it was a way for her to deal with her loss. Now we’re all into them.
Barb — Oh yes, we know that chipmunks love the sunflowers seeds for sure, if you’ve seen our oldest daughter with her chipmunks! We haven’t seen any rabbits near ours.
Therese—We all loved reading your post. What a wonderful thing to think of when you see all of your visiting birds. Thanks for sharing that!
Almost drawing time! Best wishes to you all!
I have bird feeders outside my living room window. Sometimes as I watch the busy comings & goings of finches, cardinals, swifts, doves, titmice, jays and the seemingly infinite variety of birds God made, I think of Jesus saying, “Consider the birds of the air. They neither toil or reap yet your heavenly Father feeds them.” This never fails to console me!
That is such a cute bird feeder. We have a bird feeder and were quite surprised to find that rabbits and chipmunks like to eat bird seed.
Since we live in town surrounded by houses, we don’t get animals around here except the occasional stray cat (like the mother and siblings of the cat we rescued from under our house?). Christian is old enough now to start appreciating animals more and learning about them. He’s really intrigued by animals and birds. My dad was an avid bird watcher (he and mom met in the audubon club in college) and took us bird watching as kids. If he was still here with us I’m sure he would start teaching Christian about birds and how to identify them. It would be great to have a bird feeder so Christian could watch the birds as they stop by for a visit.
We’ve been enjoying these replies!! Michael wondered if anyone would say A BEAR! Really Paula?! And EAGLES? You’ve got a few unexpected answers there…which makes it so fun!
Maria…that tiff between the deer and the raccoon must have been funny! What a great thing for T & L to watch. Too bad you didn’t tape that! But who’d expect such a thing?
Jodi….LOVED your stories! Why NOT just put seed EVERYWHERE? Who needs feeders, anyway? lol. Boy would we have LOVED to witness the whole cardinal nesting! WOW! We love hearing family history stories too, so that is so cool to learn that about your grandmother, making bird calls. My mother was a bird lover as well, and so {A} really got into birds after my mother (her Meme) passed away. I think it was her {A’S} way of healing and feeling close to her grandmother that she missed. You named your son after St Francis of Assisi when he was born? Or a blog name? Yes…that is black sunflower seeds. Chipmunks love them too! ; ) Very enjoyable comment, Jodi….thanks so much! And good luck!
Good luck to ALL of you!
So far…5 names for the drawing! Pretty good chances for any of you so far! But we’ve still got 4 more days left! : )
Are those black sunflower seeds in there? My cardinals will go crazy for them!!
My children and I LOVE to watch our birds. We only had one bird feeder and some wasps made a nest in it before we could get bird seed in it! So my kids made pine cone feeders and the birds loved it while it lasted. The kids were sprinkling bird seed all over the place, even the front porch, and we got some close ups of the little birdies. Last year, we had a cardinal family build a nest in the bush right in front of our window so we got to watch the whole process VERY close. It was SO sweet. My great grandmother knew how to make bird calls for different birds and the birds would come right to her. I think that’s where I got my love for birds. We even named one of our sons after St. Francis of Assisi (not because he loved birds but because of his love for God!)! And you know what? That son LOVES birds. I’m not even kidding. It’s so cute. Okay, anyway….we would be so excited to finally have a bird feeder of our own and if we win, I promise to take pictures!! 😉 God bless!
Oh, how fun! Our favorite is a racoon that visits us ever night before bed. The kids love to tell him goodnight as he’s cleaning up leftover birdseed! We were lucky enough to witness 2 deer and that racoon having a tiff over the food one evening though. That was hilarious as the deer kept stamping it’s foot at the coon. So it’s usually deer, coons, chipmunks, and LOTS of squirrels so far!
Besides birds, we’ve had deer mice. So many of them that they got into our house last winter. Imagine hearing little tiny footprints in the middle of the night…..
So many! We’ve had wild turkeys, also skunks, deer, sand hill cranes, deer, a black bear, woodchucks, hawks and eagles.
Well, we just bought our first bird feeder earlier this year and I’m pretty sure its only visitors have been birds! In suburban Texas we rarely see other animals in our yard, aside from birds and squirrels. But I know there is an occasional skunk, rat, or racoon, and hubby has seen deer down the street! Can’t say I’ve ever seen a wild turkey around these parts though!
