Let Us Eat Dessert!

December 2, 2015 By Laura 115 Comments

Do you have dessert very often in your family?
There is no time that I have been more reminded that our time as one family under this roof is dissipating fast than when the six of us have been gathered around our table, having a meal together. As a mother, I just don’t want to ever let these days go. So meals together have been something we have always done, and it has always been important to my husband and I, and I believe to our children too. Though the meals have felt rather usual in our day-to-day routines as a family for years, I knew they were memories in the making. Instant treasured memories….the day one or more of those seats were empty, because life moved on.
Well, life moved on this year, when our oldest daughter left for her first year away at college. We all managed to adjust well for the most part throughout the day. But come dinner time, with that empty seat staring us all in the face, there was no denying she really was not home.
Dessert after dinner was a nice way to extend that time we still had all together around the table, every now and then!! And after our oldest daughter was off on her own, dessert was a great comfort food, that we all felt we deserved! We do have an in-house baker, who blesses us all too frequently! But spur of the moment decisions to have some dessert are always convenient, for a busy family like us! That’s when we know we can count on Marie Callender’s Desserts! It’s the homemade, made from scratch quality that we love, because we know the highest quality of ingredients are used. And the special signature touches make us feel so fancy!

( Chocolate Satin Pie! )

Another perk with Marie Callender’s Desserts is that we know some of them are available peanut and tree nut free! That’s very important for our son, who has an anaphylactic allergy.

There are so many of us and our family is so blessed, that we always have occasions to celebrate with dessert. But sometimes, the fact that we have dessert, is the reason to celebrate!

I am all for celebrating! I love it when the family gets together to celebrate an accomplishment or simply to be together. Marie Callenders pie makes that time even more special.

I miss sitting down to dinner with the kids at the table. Now that they are grown and gone, it is always a reason to celebrate when any of the 7 of them are here for a meal!!

I didn’t read the rules because I just care to comment and not really about the g/c. Dessert hmm…..every Friday my usual homemade meal is followed by dessert made by Cerrato’s Bakery that Uncle Mike brings. We call it Uncle Mike Friday.
Any other day just depends on whether I am in the mood to bake or I can convince my son’s girlfriend to bake for us. If I do bake it’s cookies because that’s my husbands favorite. There isn’t a dessert per say just an after dinner sit down snack if you will. Gone within the blink of an eye if it’s cookies.
Your dessert looked yummy and enticing. I think I’ll let Uncle Mike know that that might be a good choice for this Friday. He loves chocolate but is always creative with trying new things.

We celebrate every day moments with pie. Some times I bake or buy a pie just so we could have a dessert to chat over each evening.

ohhhhh pie!! Doesn’t that chocolate just look so delicious right now?! Our favorites are cherry and apple. Now you have me craving, I’m adding pies to my grocery list this week!!

Family dinners are so important to our big family as well. It’s time to tune out the electronics and crazy from the day and tune into each other.

    xoxo
