A very special day is just about here, in our family.
Our triplets’ First Holy Communion!
We are a Roman Catholic family. I took these formal portraits of our triplets, for their First Holy Communion, at one of my favorite locations, that is also so fitting for the occasion, seeing as it is religious retreat grounds. Because I wanted them here at this place, and because I knew there would be no time on their actual day of Sacrament and celebration, we did these a few days prior.
In case you are not a regular blog visitor, let me just say these smiles are so real! Our triplets have been waiting to receive this Sacrament with all of their hearts, for a very-long-time.
This was a real moment. I turned around from talking to one of the others, and there he was, just like this. <click!>

This photo wasn’t easy because of the vast difference in scale of the 2 subjects. But, I have to share it because it was SO important to {O}. She told me in the beginning she wanted her photo taken with the Blesses Mother. After every photo I took she asked, “Now, can I have my photo taken with Mary?” So there it is, and she’s happy!
Those 3 beautiful faces. Such a huge part of my heart.

A creative way to be sure everyone sees {O}’s special nail job! These are the perks of being the girl, between 2 boys! ; )

We’ll be blogging about their actual day and celebration soon as well. It was a special day for sure, with lots of loved ones joining us to celebrate, but inevitably bitter-sweet as well. We hope you are able to check those out later. But we were excited to share these formals with you. They have never been so dressed up, and they loved it! {O’s} veil was custom made, and details of that will also be blogged about soon. Aren’t they sweet looking though?
To Corrine J.-Our two cousins are 13 and twins. They both just made their First Holy Communions last sunday,June 2nd.Per the parish dress code all of the girls had to wear poofy, short sleeve, knee length communion dresses with the veil, lace anklets and white patent leather shoes and the cloth diaper, rubberpants and tee shirt under their dresses. After their baths, they both laid side by side on the bed naked and i helped their mom powder them, then we pinned the diaper on each of them, then put their rubberpants on over their diaper, followed by their tee shirts, then their dresses, veils, lace anklets and the shoes. Both girls looked very cute and little girlish in their outfits! There were three 15 year old girls in the class also and they all had adult size rubberpants on over their cloth diaper and they looked cute also!
In reply to Cheryl F.-Our twin nieces, who are 11,just made their First Holy Communions a week ago on May 5th.They had to wear a poofy, short sleeve, bottom of the knees communion dress and veil with the lace anklets and the white maryjane shoes.A cloth diaper and rubberpants and white tee shirt was required under the communion dresses for all of the girls. The nieces looked very cute and pure in their outfits!
We have triplets also who are now 19,two sons and daughter. As a stay at home mom when they were babies,it was a full time job taking care of the three of them! We never had them baptized and make their First Communions when they were younger.Finially when they were 13 and in 7th grade,we had them baptized during sunday mass in the May baptism class. The boys wore their suits and ties and the daughter we dressed in the traditional, white, poofy, short sleeve, knee length baptism dress and matching bonnet with the lace anklets and white maryjane shoes and under her dress the traditional white cloth baptism diaper and rubberpants with a tee shirt as her top.The daughter looked very pure in her outfit and i was very happy finially having them baptized.I had to tell my sons not to tease or make fun of the daughter and they both understood why she wore the outfit. The next year when they were 14,they made their First Communions and the sons had to wear white suits and ties and the daughter had to wear the communion dress and veil with the lace anklets and the maryjane shoes again and her baptism diaper, rubberpants and under shirt under the dress.
There is nothing in this whole world like the pure and enthusiastic love of God that children have…I need to go find a tissue.
thanks so much for sharing this with us! kim
Thank you so very much, Everyone! I will forever be happy I took the time to take these portraits of them. They mean so much to me, and them, already. I can’t imagine how much we will grow to cherish these images, as they grow older. Thanks for looking!
I just saw this blog post for the first time today…I LOVE these photos Laura, {O, J & S} look so precious and so sweet, we love you and them! I had tears looking at these photos, you can see the joy in their faces and feel the joy in their hearts! xoxo
What beautiful pictures. My 7 year old also made her communion a few weeks ago. I can’t imagine having 3 of them at the same time. How wonderful!
You know what? These photos actually bring tears to my eyes. The excitement of their special day brings me back to my own first communion (only 9 yrs ago). Congratulations to all of them. I can’t wait to hear about the actual day.
Thanks so much everyone. I’m really glad I took the time to get good photos of them ahead of time, all dressed up, for this day that meant so much to THEM. I know they will forever remember how special it was, and I know they’ll love having these photos someday, of themselves at this age. (And so will I!)
Love the pictures. The three of them are so beautiful! You are truly blessed. The look very ready for their big day! Can’t wait to read all about it!
