It Takes a Village to Make a Mess.

We’re a small village, but we’re really good at messes! Such a beautiful mess this time though. And what fun making it! (OK, I’ve got a feeling the kids ALWAYS have fun making the messes. But this time they were ASKED to, and they happily complied.)

Christmas is fast approaching, and believe it or not, this whole mess is another home made gifts craft project.  It’ll be a very useful gift too.  But I can’t say what they’re turning out to be just yet. For now, just enjoy the colors!!  If you are like me, and colors make you happy….you’ll be loving this post.  If not, you’ll wonder what the point was with all these photos, all of which maybe look the same to you.  Because otherwise, I don’t have much else to say tonight.… Read More

Tasha Tudor RoCkS!

Tasha Tudor is an author introduced to us through author Fiesta….back in, um, August.  Yes, we have dropped the Author Fiesta ball….or fallen off the Author Fiesta wagon <just insert your preferred phrase here>.  When busy season hits with our businesses, there is really only so much we can keep up with.

The kids worked together on this white pumpkin, below.  The polka dot theme was inspired by September’s issue of Better Home and Gardens.  The circles were embossed with an plunger-type apple corer.  While the directions instructed to insert the completely cored out pieces from other colored pumpkins into other colored pumpkin’s holes, (which is a great idea), we opted to just just partially carve a circle, and paint it in.… Read More

Paper Plate Painting

Today was a long awaited gorgeous day out! As S put it, “Today it’s really acting like spring!”. Indeed it was. So the kids worked right through their book work in the morning, so they could get out there and enjoy it! We spent hours outdoors in the still, fresh air and bright sunshine. They did a multitude of things, including a science experiment-turned-competition I may share at a later time.

Later on when they came in, they decided they were feeling creative, as they often do, and broke out the paints. Someone had the idea of painting on paper plates, since we’re out of large sheets of paper, again.… Read More
