I don’t know where time has gone, but I sure wish it would slow down some. I’ve done the best I can all along, to cherish every moment of watching all of my children grow up, knowing it will all happen too fast. It’s yet another reason I school my kids myself. I don’t want to miss any of their fleeting childhood. Still, it seems like yesterday that my first baby girl, Alexis Grace, was born. She grew up in the blink of an eye. Next thing I knew, she was in high school, and taller than me! She’s athletic and strong, and it blows me away.… Read More
Pansies, Verbenas & Berries
Yesterday morning, I found myself up wicked early. And not at the computer, in my bathrobe, with coffee. But up, dressed, and outside with my camera, taking photos around my yard. (With coffee.) I had to wonder what in the heck was going on with me lately. I have never-ever been one to get up early, unless I absolutely-no-way-out-of-it-have-to. This morning, I was not only up at the crack of dawn, but after a night where I had laid in bed during the night, for at least 3 hours, wide awake! I thought for sure I’d be sleeping like a rock, come morning.… Read More
Gardens Progress Update/Front Yard Transformation

In our last post, we shared with you the very beginnings of our front yard transformation. We planned out 3 gardens, built 3 garden beds, had loam delivered, filled the beds with the loam, and got our strawberry plants planted all in mid-May.
At the end of May, after the threat of frost had past, we planted all of the vegetable and flower plants in the beds. I did not take photos of the extensive work we did that day along the way, because frankly, I was covered in earth and sweat, and wasn’t about to touch my camera. : )

Here’s a photo of our front yard now, with the 3 garden beds.… Read More
Our Gardens / Front Yard Transformation
We have grand dreams for our yard, and it’s likely you’ll be able to watch the transformations take place right here on our blog! But we can tell you right away….it’ll always be slow-going. A little a year. Whatever we can do. Whatever we have the time, or the money for. And when we’ve thought about it, we’ve realized we need both at the same time, to see any real progress. ; ) But you know, we’ve learned to enjoy ‘the process’. The RIDE, as they say. After all, we may be too old to ever really DO the end. But having hopes and dreams are half the fun!… Read More
A Garden Visitor
The other afternoon, Little {O} and I were working around the gardens, pulling weeds and pinching off dried bits of flower parts, when we noticed we weren’t alone. There was a bumble bee, working right along beside us. It was amazing watching him work, seemingly oblivious to our presence. So graceful, as he floated around. It was but moment, before I couldn’t take it anymore. I asked {O} to keep an eye on him, while I ran into get my camera.
He was all over the place, as was my exposure, as he went from light flower to dark, and back again….I could hardly keep up with my settings, and I didn’t have a macro lens either. So…technically far from the best shots they could have been, but it sure was fun taking them!… Read More
New Beds for Our 6 Tiny Potted Plants

If you’ve been visiting us here at our blog for awhile, you may remember when we planted these 6 tiny-potted plants, and later when we gave an update on their sprouts growth.
Well the time came for them really being in need of being transplanted. We initially thought when that time came, it would be outdoors into the ground, but we don’t think their quite ready for THAT yet. The thing is, they kind of seemed to stop growing pretty much after that growth update, and we decided they must be root-bound. So we bought some cheap (but pretty!) pots and got to work.… Read More
What's growing around our house right now.
Not too much to say today really, but I did take some shots of what’s growing around our house at the moment, so I thought I’d share those with you. I hope you enjoy them!
Pink Apple Blossoms of the apple tree. The petals are looking a little beat down from all of the rain, but there is more buds to bloom, and I think they are beautiful none-the-less.

Lilacs of the Lilac Tree. Still have lots of bud-opening to do as you can see. They put out such a lovely scent though – don’t they?
Purple Phlox. Such a pretty ground covering.… Read More
Plants Update
In case anyone noticed, I guess that was our first little dry-blog-spell! It’s been a busy (but fun!) few days, and there was no real time for blogging. We sort of took school vacation this week as well, (from our book work anyway), along with the town, so our week has been a little off-routine. {A} had bowling and then pizza with Youth Group the other day, I’ve had work to do anywhere I can, and then Papa (my father) was here for a couple of days to visit us as well. The kids are just all over him like bees on honey when he is here, and I think he must go home just wiped out- but filled with so much love.… Read More
6 Tiny Potted Plants
How cute are these little potted plants sitting on the window sill? Something about little sights like this just stir me somewhere inside, and make me smile.
We got the kids this little kit, to plant some flowers in these little starter pots, which we will later transplant into our flower beds outdoors. (They just LOVE stuff like this. All projects, really.)
The first thing they needed to do was put the pete pellets in a bowl, and add one cup of water. Then they had to wait FIVE MINUTES. You know…..eternity, for a kid. This photo below totally cracks me up, because of their expressions of waiting….and waiting….they look thrilled, don’t they?… Read More
Budding Promise
I know it doesn’t look like much. Yet. But it will soon enough! These are the buds of my hostas and tulips. I wait for them, in such anticipation, every early spring. New England weather is so crazy, and everyone knows how much I despise the COLD. So when I see these buds, it’s proof to me that maybe, perhaps, spring may truly be here. Even if it’s not quite acting like it yet.
More than the hope they give, I know all that they will flourish to be. I’ve seen it! These little pathetic buds are full of promise. I’ve soaked up the joy they give me at every glance, year after year.… Read More
