Meet Michelle McCarthy Manteiga, owner, and sole designer of Stitch a Wish Designs.
Michelle has been sewing for many years, but only started her business last spring. Since then, it has grown quickly in that short amount of time! The name of her business is reflective of the fact that she loves to custom design specific items for her clients, upon their request. Whatever they are wishing for, she thrives on the challenge to be able to create it!
Today, she has a web site from which online orders come in from all over the country, as well as selling to local clients. She is happy to communicate with long distance clients over the phone, or e-mail, working closely with her clients to be sure they get just what they wished for, and then ships directly to them. Boutiques surrounding her area of Kingston MA, also directly buy Michelle’s beautiful specialty items to sell in their stores.
Michelle runs her business, creating her custom orders, from her home on the Kingston Shores in MA, where she lives with her husband and 3 beautiful children.
Michelle says this about her business: “What I love best is being able to be creative, and to design what I am passionate about, as well as the flexibility to work from home, my favorite place to be!”
Here is just a little peek at some of Michelle’s custom designed work:
Tutus, which can be made as a classic or a poof , can be custom made to size, with any colors you choose, with or without embellishments.

Custom designed children’s outfits, which also include personalized onesies and custom designed overalls.
Michelle’s tutus , children’s outfits and accessories are often sold to professional children photographers, to moms of little girls who love to dress up, and even for their birthday parties. In the center photo below, you will see one pink flower headband that looks adorable on baby girls!

She also makes simply GORGEOUS women’s bags, which can also be custom designed to order. You can choose your colors, bag style, size, etc. These handbags are made with such high quality, they are very durable and functional. Women order bags for themselves, or as a very special gift for someone they love.
One of the many things I love about Michelle’s creations, is that she pays meticulous attention to the details, inside and out, of every piece she creates.

There’s a style for everyone! (Even for little girls!) From fun & whimsy, funky and chic, to classy and elegant! From little make-up totes to small purses, to bigger bags to carry everything you need!
You’ll notice that many of Michelle’s bags often come with some kind of hand-made flower that matches, and is just pinned on the bag. Michelle thinks of it as a little signature of hers. You can leave it on, take it off, or wear it on your blouse or coat.
She even custom designs backpacks for girls and boys, in whatever size you need.
Her pricing is hard to believe, for the quality! Very affordable!
Michelle is a longtime friend (and client) of mine, so I would quietly support her passion and business no matter what. But it’s the quality of her work that inspires me to actually promote her creations! I believe in her work! I LOVE her creations! So I support her in any way I can. I want everyone to know of the beautiful work she does. Anyone who knows me, knows I have high standards of my own work and creations, so you can bet I notice all of the little things with other people’s creations as well. I have several pieces made by Michelle, and they are not only beautiful, but stand the test of time. What’s more, I get compliments everywhere I go, because her work stands out!

She has a big heart too! Considering the name of her business, ‘Stitch a Wish Designs’ , and a need in her heart to ‘give back’, Michelle donates 10% of ALL of her profits, year-round, to…..well, a very well-known wish-granting foundation for terminally ill children. We aren’t supposed to use the foundation’s name specifically, but if you take your best guess, we’ll guess you’d be right. ; )

Recently Michelle and I teamed up as a creative force, and put on a funky-attired photo shoot expedition just for little girls!! The preliminary details and ad can be seen over in the ‘Photography & Lettering’ section, for now, and there will be a follow-up post at a later date.
But first, to see more of Michelle’s work, and perhaps place an order of your own, please visit Michelle’s beautiful web site at www.stitchawishdesigns.com
While you are there, go ahead and read her Testimonials page! The comments from her clients say it all.

*Love* the bags!! The one with the corduroy inside is my favorite!
Oh my little one would love one of those tutus! Her bags are gorgeous…I might just have to go and take a peek at her site. Kim
