Our House Of Joyful Noise Link-Up Party #7, & Featured Links From Last Week.

& FEATURED PROJECTS

FROM LAST WEEK’S LINK-UPS!

Memorial Day Weekend 2011 is coming to a close, as I sit here typing, exhausted from a wonderful 3 day weekend.  I could really go on a blab-fest about how Memorial Day hits home for me, as I know it sadly does for many of you as well.  Naturally, we all think of all of the American soldiers who have put their lives on the line for our country’s freedom, and sacrificed it.  For some of us, the pain of that loss hits very close to home, as we live with the loss of a loved one.   But we also celebrate our freedom, with gratitude to those soldiers, as Americans.

That’s just what we did this weekend.  And with the commencement of Memorial Day weekend, came the first days of that summer-time feeling! The official start of summer is not until June 21, but we live in New England, and the weather does what it wants around here, paying no mind to such details as calendar months, or say…SEASONS! I only recently became convinced spring was here to stay, when the summer heat hit us.

Because it’s been such a beautiful & summerish weekend, as I’ve browsed all of the fabulous link-ups to choose features & gather up some personal inspiration, the projects that grabbed me most, were the ones with that summertime vibe!  Well, all but one are summer-themed.  So with that in mind, here are the ones we have chosen to feature here this week.

This photo alone, from Carolyn’s Homework, grabbed me the first time I saw it, and I thought the Lemon Drop Necklace was just…cool. I actually saw it elsewhere first, and invited her to come link it up!  I knew if she did, I would feature it.  By the way, I was intrigued with her blog’s name, and what her homework is.  Then I found the explanation.  “Today’s assignment? Be inspired!”.  That’s homework we’d all be happy to do!

I really am inspired by these creative candle holders, from Crissy’s Crafts!!  I totally love the aqua blue gems, and the pretty sheer ribbon with the dangling beads & elements.  It’s a lovely beach themed shelf she put together here. I’m not sure what that thing is on the left.  I have never seen such a thing, and I wish I could touch it!

I would not doubt if you have all seen project this all over blogland already!  But it deserves all of the attention it is getting.  Michell from Girl In Air, came up with this fun & creative play wall for her son’s room!  I love that she put all of the the things she loves, all together!  The whole thing is so playfully inviting, I wish I could climb in this photo, and play awhile myself! If that sliding ladder isn’t a great thing to feature, the photo (in her post) of her son helping push the Home Depot cart of supplies through the parking lot is!  So cute! Funny little tidbit to share how passingly dense I can be:  I had been following Michell on Twitter for awhile, as ‘girlinair’.  All along, I never clicked over to her blog, but wondered why the strange name. Turns out it was not Girli Nair….as I had been reading it in my often tangled mind. I wondered how much one could blog about a girl’s hairy legs. Imagine my pleasant surprise to learn it was Girl In Air.  Ohhhh….. .  I know.  I have days like this.  A lot.

How FUN is this Summer Lantel? (Not a typo!)  This was linked up from LaDeeDa Creations, and I think it’s a a decorative display that gives off such a cheery vibe! I love the polka dot free-standing letters, and check out the watermelon banner below it!  So fun. So cheery.  So LaDeeDa!!

Lastly, these pom poms from Vivienne at The V Spot. What’s so fabulous & surprising about these beautiful poofs made of tissue, is that she spray painted them!!  She says, she has always said, You can spray paint anything, if it will hold still long enough!”  She obviously lives by that belief!  Who would have thought spray painting tissue paper would work? It’s proof that sometimes, you can learn amazing techniques, if you are brave enough to experiment.  I wonder how cool mixing up colors would look!

That’s our features for this week!!  I don’t know about you, but I’ve been inspired!!  Thanks to ALL who have come by to link-up with us!!

Now…let’s have another party!!

*********

I’m so happy our party has been growing!  I haven’t had much time to pull together the posts for my latest projects this week, to share with you yet, but they are coming! I’ve just been busy with home schooling, prepping my kids for testing. Meanwhile, we’re as excited as always to see what YOU have been up to! So link-up new stuff, and tell your creative friends to come join you in our party!

ETA: If you aren’t sure if you linked up a specific project in a prior party already, please check.  No sharing something you already shared HERE at our party so we keep the the ideas & inspiration FRESH! : )
