About This Crafts Section of the Blog

We tend to do a lot of crafts around here.  I’m the kind of girl that walks into a place like Michael’s Arts and Crafts, and feels butterflies in her stomach from the vast and endless possible creations in that store.  I usually go in with one project in mind, and come out with supplies for, well, several. : )   I’m easily inspired, and I especially love to do crafts with my kids. They love it too!

To further encourage our crafting, I can’t tell you how many times we’ve seen something cute in the store, and have been tempted to buy it, but then think, “We could easily just make something like this.”  It turns out to be a whole lot cheaper than the store bought item, plus there is the added value of the fun making it!  Many times, it’s the the things that are made with love by our own hands, that mean the most.  Crafted items can also be some of the most affordable gifts for loved ones, and the fact that they are made by you make the gift all the more meaningful also.  But beyond crafts, we’ve actually shopped for doors for our home, and Michael ended up saying….”You know, I could actually make these.”  He did, and MAN DO I LOVE MY DOORS! (Hey, there another blog post for The Homestead section!

So, some crafts you see here may be easy, while others may be more involved.  Some may be MY craft, and some are for/with the kids.   Some may be useful and functional, while others may be more of a decorative piece.  Sometimes we come up with ourselves, and sometimes it’s something we saw somewhere,  like in a magazine, a crafts show, or online at a site or someone’s blog.   Often times, if we have been inspired by a craft we saw here or there, we either expand on it,  put our own twist on it, or take it in a completely different direction.  But all in all, we enjoy crafting, and we enjoy sharing these things with others.

As we continue to do our craft projects here and there, I will often times blog about them here, if I think it is one you and/or your children may enjoy too.  Naturally, as I mentioned above, they’ll vary in the age range they may be best for, as well as the supplies needed, and the amount of time it takes to complete.  It may be a project the right aged kids can do all on their own, leaving you with a chunk of time to get other things done,  or something that will take a little parental help. Whatever the case, we will give the best step by step instructions we can, with photos to help demonstrate the steps of the process.

If you are happy crafter, (and we know there are some really great ones out there who are fit to inspire US!), we hope you enjoy this crafting section of our blog.  Also, PLEASE feel free to send us your craft ideas or tips any time!!   If it’s something we use, we’ll give you credit for it!  Let’s all just have fun being creative!
