We’re really excited about this section of the blog, because frankly, we love HOME. Honestly, I see my home and small bit of land, as my sacred place in the world. A safe haven we can always come back to. Someplace our children are growing, learning, thriving, embracing life with a steadfast faith, and building memories that they will only treasure more and more, the older they get. Us too!
I think we also love our homestead so much, because we have truly invested our hearts and souls into it, and continue to do so. I suppose we have made mention here and there of the work we have done around here. But really, you all have no idea. So for those of you who love home improvement stuff, and watching the transformations of living spaces, boy do we have some exciting and amazing stuff in store for you! Lots of photos and stories we have never really shared, that just might amaze you. Most people can’t even believe the changes they have seen around here, or what we’ve been through to make them happen. What’s more, we’ve got a long way to go. Many, many projects are on the horizon. So…..there is a whole lot of that kind of stuff to share with you, which will likely be many interesting posts.
But then, there is all of those little things that just ‘make a house, a home’, too. It may be a new old item, a re-arrangement, an efficient idea, ….the list is endless. It’s the details of not just my home, but anyone’s home, that I just love. Don’t you?
Now gardening is new to us, and we are amateurs at best. I did start working at a young age for some elder folks, and tended to a lot of their elaborate yard, and I learned a thing or 2 along the way. Later in high school, I worked in a green house for a couple of years. But through it all, I was just a kid with a job. I wish now I had soaked up all of the agricultural education I had at my fingertips-but alas, I didn’t. Nonetheless, bits and pieces have accidentally stuck with me, Years and years later, it only took a few steps into a simple idea for our homestead , that sparked an explosion of plans, ambitions and excitement four our home grounds. We’re serious about all we plan to do, because now, we’ve found we love gardening and landscaping type projects as well. And I’ll tell you, there’s a lot to be done around here! We plan to share it all with you. Of course, it will take years to bring it all to a full reality, as time and money allow, but won’t it be a fun journey for you to watch it all coming together and to life, right here on our blog?! Thus far, we have only shared with you our strawberry bed, but we have other garden beds going as well. So there will be lots more gardening photos and progress reports (and progress photos) to share. Not to mention the dramatic make-overs that will be happening in time, with the overall appearance of our property.
Another great thing about this section, is that we don’t plan to just focus on just OUR home and garden……but occasionally OTHER people’s homes and gardens we love as well. Because we love to see what others have done, be inspired, and learn about what makes THEIR house and yard feel like home to their families. It’s something we love to see, and imagine that if you love that kind of thing, you will enjoy as well.
